Top 10 Most Popular Phones Ever
Almost everyone on the planet who can afford some food for himself owns a phone now. They are undoubtedly a huge part of our culture and a great milestone for technology. Here are the 10 most sold phones in history, their release dates, some of their features, and the numbers of units sold.
10: Motorola RAZR V3 (2004)
RAZR V3 |
The most popular and most sold mobile phone from Motorola, it had 2 very notable features which are its second screen on the back of the phone (which was pretty new) and it's namesake, the extremely thin design. This phone is still thinner than most of our mobile phones today. It came with features that were pretty standard for its time, but its design, name and general look are what made it so popular.

9: Nokia 2600 (2004)
Nokia 2600 |
Let me start by saying that it's a shame Nokia had to shut down whatever the reasons were, because this company had the greatest potential of all phone producing companies to totally change our idea of mobile phones, it's unbelievable that one company actually occupies 7 places of the top 10 phones ever sold by units. Anyway, this phone had a stopwatch, an organizer, changeable front and back covers -a pretty cool feature back then-, and could support the download of polyphonic and monophonic ringtones.

8: Samsung E1100 (2009)
Samsung E1100 |
For you who don't know, Samsung is not just a simple phone company, its one of the biggest companies on earth and it ranks among the top 10 companies when it comes to revenue. They produce almost anything you can think of and can't think of, including even military grade weapons! This is the only phone from Samsung to reach historical sales amounts, it had nothing new except for an extremely powerful battery that could endure a whopping 500 hours of standby time! this means you could just leave the phone for about 3 weeks without charging it even once if you leave it idle!

7: Nokia 5230 (2009)
Nokia 5230 White |
This phone was cutting-edge technology back in the days of 2009, it had a lot of features including the not-yet-popular touchscreen, a great resolution of 360 x 640 pixels, handwriting recognition, microSD support, GPS, photo editor, voice memos and an amazing battery that could withstand 432 hours of standby. This phone marked the beginning of the truely smart smartphones as we know them today.

6: Nokia 6600 (2003)
The Legendary Nokia 6600 |
The legendary icon of Nokia, back in 2003 this phone was a true marvel of technology. It had the innovative joystick-style navigation, a camera which was a really advanced feature back then (like REALLY advanced), Email support, Java support and a huge array of apps and games that were downloadable. You may thing that's not impressive, but remember this is 2003 for god's sake!

5: Nokia 1200 (2007)

4: Nokia 3210 (1999)
Nokia 3210 |
That one had nothing impressive except for one thing. It changed the whole idea of mobile phones that they can be small handheld devices instead of the usual huge sized ones with antennas on the top of them. It was a huge success for Nokia and marked the beginning of a new era in the mobile phone industry.

3: Apple iPhone 6 & iPhone 6 Plus (2014)
Apple iPhone 6 |
This is a really one weird phone when you think about it. It was released 3 years after the death of Steve Jobs. What is so weird about it you say? The irony. Before this phone, Apple used to mock every single mobile phone with a large screen, until they made one themselves, and Apple fans continuously assumed that Apple is going to be ruined after the death of good ole' Steve. The irony is that this phone came out to be the most successful and most sold mobile phone in the history of Apple. Of course, this is a relatively new phone so it had tons of features, you can refer to Apple's official website if you want to know more about it.

2: Nokia 1110 (2005)
Nokia 1110 |
What made this phone so successful is that it was aimed at first-time mobile phone users. It was the easiest phone to handle at that time, very reliable and for an extremely cheap price. This phone was basically Nokia marketing itself via a product, not through the usual advertisement techniques.

1: Nokia 1100 (2003)
Nokia 1100 |
I don't think I really need to talk about this one, but I will anyway. Who among us doesn't know the famous 1100? The Internet usually talks about one specific thing about this phone and its generation (like the Nokia 3110), it was more durable than you can even start to imagine, I used to play soccer with this phone when I was a kid. No jokes, I really did. Its battery was basically immortal. But enough of the funny stuff and let's get serious, this phone had the lion's share in the history of mobile phones despite being released in a time where more advanced phones were around.. so how did Nokia do that? With an ingenious marketing strategy. People in developing countries back in 2003 used to only hear about mobile phones, so Nokia targeted this phone specifically to these people. A third world resident could never say no to Nokia's 1100, due to its price and due to the fact that they can actually use a phone now. Pluse their variety of colors.
